Erling Warren Hofseth was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, pastor, and teacher/administrator. Born February 21,1925, the only son of Karl and Ingrid Hofseth, he was raised in Chicago and was a serious White Sox fan.
He met Alice Johnson while both attended Redlands University. They married and together had three sons: Erling John, David Karl, and Dana Timothy. Alice went home to be with the Lord in 1962. Three years later he married Agnes Sorenson in 1965. He is survived by his three sons, three stepsons, 20 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
Erling enlisted in the Navy immediately after high school graduation in 1942. During World War II he served as a medical corpsman attached to the Marines in the Pacific. He landed with the Marines on the island of Tarawa and received the Purple Heart.
His greatest passion was serving his Lord and Savior as pastor of several churches throughout California and Arizona. He will be best remembered for his godly influence and how he impacted many for the Lord through his ministry and teaching. He passed peacefully with family at his side. His family takes great joy in knowing that Dad is now with Jesus and celebrating His Savior alongside those who have preceded him.
