Richard Thomas Rand Jr., age 75, of Rancho Cucamonga, California, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024. Richard was born on November 25, 1948, in Biloxi, Mississippi. He served our country proudly in the Navy during the Vietnam era.
He was honorably discharged on March 12, 1974. Richard was a greenskeeper for the City of Glendora for 40 years. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard, Sr., his sister Christine (Chris) and brother Eric.
He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Belinda (Billy); his son, Bill Justin (BJ); his mother, Shirley; his siblings, Cynthia (Cyndi), Susan, Nancy, and Rebecca (Becky).
Richard’s job as a greenskeeper in the City of Glendora aligned perfectly with his love for golf. Although his golf days were spent mainly as a spectator, his knowledge of the golf world was impressive. Richard’s green thumb did not only benefit golf course grounds, but he was also known for his love of orchids, having grown different varieties over the years. An avid horse race enthusiast, Richard was a member of the Santa Anita Park race track community for many years.
A celebration of life for Richard will be held Friday, March 8, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Miller-Jones Mortuary and Crematory, 1501 W. Florida Avenue, Hemet, CA 92543, followed by a reception at Ramona Room from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
