Robert joined the US Navy in 1945 and served in WWII, Korean and Vietnam wars. Upon retiring from the USN after 25 years, he then joined LA County as a carpenter, retiring after 11 years.
He leaves behind his wife of 65 years of marriage, Cora P. Benson, formerly of Long Beach, California; son, Robert A. Benson, Jr. of Morro Bay, California; daughter, Pamel D. Wilson (Cosmo) of Sun City; two grandsons, Michael Cyrus (Kristen) and William Robert (Arlene) and 3 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Riverside National Cemetery on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 10:00 AM, staging area #1
