He had so many stories to share and brought smiles and laughter to all he met. He always told us that he was born in the last house in Los Angeles County, then his family moved to a ranch in Chino.
He was a very hard working individual and started working on the farm at a very early age. He worked in the automotive/tire industry and helped out at his brother's automotive shop. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in World War II as an airplane and engine mechanic. He served in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Sicily, Italy, India, and Burma. After his time in the service, he returned to California and returned to working at the Automotive shop in downtown Los Angeles.
After a long career, he semi-retired and moved to El Paso, TX and worked as a caretaker for the Girl Scout camp. He enjoyed taking care of the camp and making improvements for the campers. When he was done with this, he retired and after a few more years he moved back to California and lived in Hemet. In Hemet he kept busy with shuffleboard, cards, and dominos.
Everywhere he went he made friends, loved telling his stories. He loved music, especially "Big Band" songs and one of his favorites was Spike Jones. He loved the humor. And he really loved being with all of his grandchildren. He had a big smile on his face whenever one of his grandchildren was around. He was delighted that he got to meet his great grandchildren, too.
