

In 1957 she married Sylvia Williams from their union they had three children, son, Donald and twins Denise and Janese.
In 1972 the family was on a river fishing trip on the Colorado River, tragic struck, she lost her husband and son in a drowning accident. She was left with Denise and Janese (deceased).
After attending Compton Community College, she went to work as a teacher’s aide with the Compton Unified School District for 31 years.
Ruth was a seamstress with all sewing machine. She made most of her and her daughter’s clothing. Since she was very good, she made clothing for others to supplement income to pay for Private School education for her daughters.
In 1987, she married Robert Chess, who had two sons, Joffre (deceased) and Barnett Chess.
This is when their journey began, they first had to make a house a home, starting with church and family. Having both lost loved ones, they had to make their journey together, so they did by doing things together both inside and outside of their home. They loved to camp, fish and travel. They made many motor home trips across the country and they made many class and family reunions and with R.V. Clubs.
In 2003 they moved to Perris, California and had to work together both inside and outside to make a new place a home.
For a very long time they commuted back to Avalon Church of Christ in Los Angeles. They located a new home church and family found Valley Church of Christ in Sun City, California.
In June of 2020, Ruth took ill and spent the last 8 months in hospital and boarding cares where she passed on February 21, 2021.
She left to morn her loving husband, Robert Chess, daughter, Denise Williams (Duncanville, Texas); sisters, Sharon Horn and Ella Mae Bailey (Tuscaloosa, Alabama) and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many church friends and family; two morning coffee buddies, Sister Watson and Sister Hubbard.
