Wanda Denise Booker

Wanda was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to Alexina LaVerne Speight and Frederick Booker, Sr.

The family later moved to New York, New York. Wanda graduated from the CUNY college system and earned 2 bachelor degrees (a BS in Bio-Chemistry and a BSN).

In March of 1982, Wanda Denise Booker and Willie Lee Brown were united in holy matrimony. One son, Anthony Ian Brown was born from this union. Both Willie and Ian (as known to us) preceded her in death.

Wanda worked as a registered nurse for 35 years and her favorite assignment was that of an emergency room RN. Wanda served at the Montefiore Hospital and the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital's in New York, New York. When she moved to California she served at the Redlands Community Hospital and St. Bernadine Hospitals.

Wanda started her nursing career while in nursing school as a Hemodialysis Technician, but she would later learn that her passion was to be right there on the spot when an individual arrived at the hospital. When an opportunity presented itself for her to fulfill this passion, she accepted and the rest is history. She was well liked and respected by all her colleagues. Doctors depended on her expertise and diligence wherever she worked.

Wanda had a good heart and helped her family through many turns in their lives. She loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own and when they started to have their own children, her heart grew even larger!

Wanda loved to travel and was especially proud when she was able to visit Israel. She became a minister shortly after that. Wanda's faith was strong in the Lord and it never wavered, even during her long illness.

She leaves behind to celebrate her memory: Sisters, Andréa Booker-Guantes, Melvinia Booker-Harris, adopted sister, Kalua Malau-Morrison, one brother, Frederick Booker, Jr., brother-in-laws, Ysmael Guantes, Vincent M. Harris, Sr., sister-in-law Christina Lisa Lopez-Booker and her BFF, Eilene Bauer. Nieces: Kia D. Booker, Malaika Booker-Brathwaite, Albanie M. McFadden, Tiarra Booker, Tatianna Booker and Talia Booker-Jones. Nephews: Michael L. Booker and Jason Patrick Williams, a host of grand- nieces and nephews, two great-grand nephews, and other extended family members on the East Coast.
