Zita was born to the late Bienvenido and Marcela Ingcog on April 27th, 1961 on the island of Bohol, Philippines. She studied civil engineering for several years before immigrating to the United States. She met Bill shortly after, they were married, and together they raised two children who were her absolute pride and joy.
Zita enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading mystery novels, and cruising on the Harley with Bill, but more than anything, she loved being around her family. She was overjoyed by her new role as a grandmother and was looking forward to spoiling her grandkids.
Zita worked tirelessly throughout her short life, always putting others' needs before her own. As a registered nurse, she cared for thousands of patients and touched innumerable lives. She was just starting to slow down and take some time for herself.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bienvenido and Marcela Ingcog, father-in-law Peter Mancini, and brother-in-law Gregory Mancini.
She is survived by her loving family; love of her life, William VanValkenburg, daughter, Mia VanValkenburg (Lee Shaner), son, Kyle VanValkenburg (Paige), grandchildren Koa VanValkenburg and Layla Richmond, mother-in-law, Sandra Mancini (Book), siblings, Rosie Nimic (Ingcog), Antonio Ingcog, Neri Ingcog, Precila Ingcog, Bienvenido Ingcog Jr., Cristobal Ingcog, and Teodoro Ingcog, in-laws, Andrew Nimic, Deborah Mancini, Paul Mancini, Patrick Mancini, and far too many nieces, nephews, and cousins to list. Her loss is being felt all across the world.
A private viewing was held for family immediate family members on April 6th. A celebration of life is tentatively planned for sometime in the future. Until then, please wash your hands and practice social distancing.
