Arthur Leroy Collins was born on May 27, 1944 to James Franklin Collins and Dorothy Ilene (Fogle) Collins in Bakersfield, California. On May 23, 2025 he joined them and the rest of his family members in heaven.
He had two older brothers Jerry and Lawrence and a younger brother Ronald along with a younger sister Ginger. The family grew up in Oildale, California until 1952 when his father moved them to Washington State where they lived for five years. While in Washington his father worked in the oil refinery while the kids spent their days playing on the farm they lived on. In 1957 the family moved back to Bakersfield. Arthur attended East Bakersfield High School where he met his high school sweetheart Betty Haworth. They dated all through high school. He graduated in 1964 and two days later left for basic training in the Army. On December 22, 1964 he married Betty but had to return to Army training ten days later. He was stationed in Georgia and Korea. After Betty graduated from high school she joined him in Georgia. After serving three years in the Army they both returned to Bakersfield, California.
In 1967 they moved to Torrance, California where he worked for Harvey Aluminum for eight years in the bookkeeping department. While at Harvey Aluminum he earned his Associates Degree from Harbor Community College. After leaving Harvey Aluminum he started working for a CPA firm that he stayed at until his retirement in 2014.
In 1972 he became a first time father to his beautiful daughter Samantha and almost five years later in 1976 an amazing son Eric joined the family. Arthur and Betty worked hard to give their family a great life and made sure that God was a part of the family's daily life. Arthur served his church at the First Assembly of God in Wilmington, California as a usher and leader for the Royal Rangers. After retirement Arthur and Betty moved to Barstow, California where they were very active in the church there. Two years ago because of health reasons they had to move to Henderson, Nevada to live with their daughter. On December 22, 2023 Betty went to heaven and Arthur missed her greatly.
Arthur was a good man and he was honest about his faults but he always wanted people to know that our God is a forgiving God and we should be like him and forgive each other. We never know what people are going through so give grace and love to others.
Waiting in heaven for Arthur are his loving wife Betty, his parents, his siblings, his son Eric and his granddaughter Marie-Anne. Left to carry the love and memories are his daughter Samantha, his grandchildren Brittany, Gage, Logan and Nash and his great grandsons Landon and Liam.
Final Interment will be on October 24th at Boulder City Veteran Cemetery.
