

Barbara L. (Bobbie) Carque, 59, died February 15, 2012 at her home in Las Vegas after a very short battle with melanoma. She was surrounded by her family and friends until she went to meet her heavenly father.
Barbara was born on September 10, 1952 in Martinsville, Indiana, to the late Marion and Nadine Guynn. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Indiana State University in 1974 where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority. While there, Barbara met the love of her life, George Carque. They were married on August 20th, 1974 and immediately began their life together by heading west to Las Vegas. Together they had three sons, Matthew, Christopher, and Joseph.
Barbara retired in 2010 from the Clark County School District after 34 years of teaching gifted and talented students. While teaching, she also earned her Master’s of Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
She was an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa and the Mesquite Women’s Club. She was also a long time parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. She enjoyed baking, making stained glass windows, taking photographs, and creating lasting memories through scrap booking. Barbara loved to travel and was always up for an adventure. Of all her hobbies, her most prized time was that which she spent with her 5 grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, George, as well as her three sons, Matthew (Neomi) Carque, of San Diego, CA; Christopher (Kelly) Carque, of Las Vegas; Joseph (Megan) Carque, of Las Vegas, and her five grandchildren, Isaiah, Miranda, Jonah, Emerson, and Joseph Markus. Barbara is also survived by her sister, Julie (Donnie) Tannehill, her aunt, Maxine French, and her cousin, Nancy Sloan, all of Martinsville, Indiana.
She was predeceased by her parents, Marion and Nadine Guynn, as well as her sister, Janice Bange.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, February 19, at Palm Mortuary – Henderson, 800 S. Boulder Hwy., from 1:30-5 p.m., with a memorial service taking place at 4 p.m.. A funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 20.
