Barbara " Barb" Hallock transitioned to be with God on 1/21/2021. Barb was born on 10/14/1924 in Falmouth, Cornwall England to Andrew Richmond and Eleanor "Nell" Cook. She was adorable, smart, compassionate, caring and full of energy. At sixteen, she joined the land army in England to help her country during World War ll. It was during this time that she met a sailor from the United States, Wayne Edwin Hallock and was soon married. She survived all the horrors of the war, but she also lived her life to the fullest. She loved to dance and frequented the officers club. After the war, she immigrated to Michigan with her new husband and a few years later gave birth to a daughter, Patricia Ann "Paddyanne" Hallock. Barb became a citizen and went to work at Ionia Manufacturing ultimately becoming an expert in repairing and touch up of new corvettes to ready them for the showroom floor. She was the first woman elected as union steward and eventually was the first woman to sit on the top committee of the union. She was a fighter for people’s rights and had no fear in standing up to anyone who violated them. She always said that she had the best job ever and really enjoyed it! While in Michigan she, Wayne and Patricia joined the Catholic Church. She knitted baby hats, boots and blankets to donate to hospitals and the church. She opened her heart and home to her daughter's friends and provided them a shoulder to cry on or a place to stay. She raised her young niece, Barbara Mary "Barbie" Hanson as her own for 5 years and always considered Barbie as her own daughter. After the death of her husband, she learned to drive at age 42. She was so proud of that! A few years later, she returned to England where she cared for both of her parents until they passed. She returned to the United States where she lived out the remainder of her life with her daughter. During that time, she was blessed by God to survive colon cancer. Barb loved life and people. She could talk for hours with a total stranger. People gravitated to her; everyone loved her and would always say that their life was made so much better with her in it. She loved meeting friends for breakfast or lunch at Emerald Island Casino.
Her favorite games were keno and video poker. Barb was an avid football fan and followed her favorite team through the entire season. She loved watching and talking about politics just as much! MSNBC was her favorite channel. She loved all of her friends in her daily life and those she looked forward to seeing at church every Saturday evening. She was remembered for saying "lovely' whenever she was pleased with something. She, herself was a "lovely" and amazing person, friend and mother who will live on in the memories and hearts of everyone who was blessed with the opportunity to know her. She loved and adored God, Jesus, Holy Spirit and Mary whose hands she is in now. We want everyone to celebrate the wonderful moments and memories that they experienced with her! Mom you are an amazing mother, best friend and role model! Barbie and I are so blessed to be your daughters. We love you mom and look forward to joining you again on the other side. You are forever in our hearts! We love and miss you! We pray God welcomes you with a loving embrace and the assurance of a life well lived...
