Barbara Ann Sledge

November 10, 1948 – May 08, 2014

Barbara Sledge was born November 10, 1948 in Henderson, Nevada to the late Willie Sledge and Earnestine Jackson. She married James Frierson and later divorced.

Barbara attended Basic High and Rancho High Schools. Barbara was a Candy Striper at Rose De Lima hospital and went on to pursue a career as a nurse’s aid. Barbara worked in the medical field from high school until health reasons forced her to resign.

Barbara lived most of her life in Henderson with her children Sabrina, James and Eric. Her partner George “Happy” Wilson has been apart of her life for the last 18 years. Her house was full of love. Barbara was a giver; she always helped others by feeding them and being a care giver if needed. She loved to cook (and did it very well).Barbara was also an avid reader.

Barbara was fun, loving and always the life of the party. Her homemade macaroni and cheese and collard greens were always in command, especially at our annual Thanksgiving dinners. Once dinner was over, you could always find her in the kitchen helping to clean up the dishes.

She is survived by her sisters Dorothy Green and Rosie Gaines and one brother William Sledge all of Las Vegas, NV. Her children Sabrina Frierson of Henderson, James Frierson (Erika) of San Diego, CA and Eric Sledge (the late Jenna)of Las Vegas. She has a host of grandchildren one great granddaughter and nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are parents Willie and Earnestine Sledge; sisters Gladys Reed, Minnie McDaniel and LaNita Sledge; brothers James and Melvin Sledge.
