I’ve been meaning to post since my Mom sent me Mr. Howell's obituary (which reads so true to his charm as I recall).  I was a drama girl, for certain.  But a speech girl, I was not.  Or just not…yet.  I will forever owe him all the glory for yanking my comfortable & fear-of-trying-new-things self off the couch - the night before the STATE speech meet, when someone fell ill on the team - & confidently telling me, someone who had never done speech before in her life, “you’ve GOT this”. I REEEEAAAALLY did NOT think that I had it. But, something in me allowed myself to believe in his persuasive & pushy belief in me - plus he INSISTED on paying me $50!?!😆  Who does that?!  Mr. Howell, that’s who.  So, you can imagine how absolutely FLOORED with surprise I was when MY name was called for 1st place in the state finals speech meet.  And I have none other than Dave Howell to thank for that!  He helped me to plant a powerful life experience that day; that it’s okay to step into the fear of the unknown, because you just might surprise yourself with your own amazing strength.  
Thank you, Mr. Howell, for making such a potent impact on my life.  May you live on in all of us through the ways that we continue to step into our lives, in spite of our fears, & trust our strengths to bring us through.  Sending peace to your family, who I’m certain miss you dearly. <3 

David was a joy to be around.  I remember with fondness and appreciation his service as a volunteer at the Neon Museum.   Thank you, Dave.  I will miss you.
