It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eddie B. Hatchett, who left us on July 25, 2024, at the age of 84. Eddie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Eddie was born on May 8, 1940, in Louise, Mississippi, where he grew up. His favorite stories included him and his dog Brownie, who may or may not have had a run-in with some of the neighborhood kids. Eddie was always full of life and made countless memories that shaped the man he would become. Known for his generous spirit, except when it came to sharing bananas with his sisters, he touched the lives of many through his countless stories and unwavering dedication to his family.
He graduated from Tuskegee University and obtained a master’s degree from Redlands University. He dedicated over 21 years to the California Department of Corrections, where he loved to buy his kids birthday cakes and jewelry for his wife.
Outside of his professional life, Eddie was a devoted family man. He married a pretty young woman who he first saw outside of the steps of the Tuskegee Dining Hall named Doraine Harden who would become Doraine Hatchett, and over 55 years, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. Eddie was a proud father to Kara Adams and Susan Anderson and a doting grandfather to Truly, Harley, and Ryder, who brought immense joy to his life.
Eddie had a passion for the Marines where he served for 4 years. You would see him out and about with his favorite Marines baseball cap on. He enjoyed fishing with his grandsons and golfing when the weather was right.
Eddie's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. We will forever cherish the memories we have with Eddie and find comfort in knowing that he is now in heaven.
Rest in peace, Eddie B. Hatchett. You will always be in our hearts.
