Gloria Jean Oxford

Gloria Jean Oxford, age 71, of Pahrump, Nevada passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022. Gloria was born November 4, 1950 in Sterling, Illinois to her parents Vernon Boyd Halliday and Mae Ellen (DeWitt) Halliday. As a young girl, the family relocated to Henderson, Nevada; where she was raised with her four siblings. Gloria graduated from Votech High School in 1969.

Shortly after High School, Gloria would marry the love of her life; Riley Wayne Oxford II. the couple were married on March 6, 1971 at the Court House Wedding Chapel. With her new husband serving in the U.S. Navy, the couple made their home where he was stationed. They were blessed with three sons, and as their family grew; they were blessed with four grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

When the family eventually settled back in Nevada, in order to help support her family, Gloria went to work as a hand packer for Good Humor Bryers Ice Cream. She worked for them until 2010 when she finally retired.

Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who centered her life around her family. She loved to travel to her favorite place on earth; Pacific Beach in San Diego, California; fishing, shopping, cooking and playing Bingo. Gloria loved the outdoors and was always in the mood to enjoy a good campfire. She was also somewhat of a sports fan where she enjoyed supporting her Minnesota Vikings football team.

Gloria was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Gloria leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Gloria Jean Oxford.

Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Halliday; mother, Mae Halliday; and her sister, Marion Halliday. She is survived by her husband, Riley Oxford II; her sons: Dennis Oxford, Riley Oxford III, and and Douglas Oxford; brother, Charles Halliday, sisters: LaVerne Proffitt and Janet Dipper (Mark); and her grandchildren: Sierra Oxford, Skyler Oxford, Logon Oxford and Cody Oxford; and one great granddaughter, Kylah.

A visitation for Gloria will be held Monday, October 3, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM, both at at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015., Gloria will be laid to rest in Palm Henderson Cemetery, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015.
