

Duaine Nielson, 85, of Henderson, passed away June 17, 2011. He was born Jan. 8, 1926, in Hurricane, Utah, and was a 60-year resident of Nevada. He served proudly and honorably in the U.S. Navy Amphib Unit during World War II. Duaine was married to his sweetheart, Peggy, for 35 years. Theirs was a true love story. He founded Duaine's Automotive and later partnered with son, Bob. Father and son worked together for many years until Duaine retired. Bob now manages the family business. He was preceded in death by parents, Maggie and Hyrum; son, Kelly; brothers, Lamar and Hugh; and sisters, Irene Wright and Lorraine Yates. He is survived by his cherished wife, Peggy; brother, Shearl Nielson; sons, Robert Duaine Nielson and wife, Lori, Mark Nielson, Steven Thompson and wife, Leanna, and Mark Thompson; daughters, Nancy Nielson, Linda Holland and husband, Dave, and Lori Nielson and husband Bob, 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday June 23, at the LDS Chapel at Water St. and Ocean. Interment will follow at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
