Ira Ray Smith, age 39, of Henderson, Nevada passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 1, 2022. He was born July 30, 1982 in Tucson, Arizona to Robin Ray Smith and April Rebecca Conner. He was raised in a military family and spent his childhood moving around the United States including Arizona, Alabama, Washington, Tennessee, California, and Georgia.
Ira graduated from Windsor Forest High School in Savannah, Georgia. He was an excellent student-athlete, placing in the top 5 of his high school class academically. He played baseball, tennis, and soccer for his high school teams. Additionally, he was an active member of his church youth group and attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
Eventually, Ira settled in Henderson, Nevada and worked as an electrical crew foreman and the lead fire alarm technician for Solid State Electric for more than 12 years. Solid State Electric became another family to him. He loved to spend time with family and spend time outdoors, hiking, fishing, and being on the lake. Ira was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and never denied his faith.
He was beloved by all who knew him. He was known as being extra-ordinarily kind and generous. He would always drop anything to help anyone. The family is filled with assurance that Ira is joined by those family and relatives that have gone before.
Ira is survived by his loving parents, Rob and April; his grandmother, Jacqueline Hiland Smith; his brothers: Patrick Riley (Elizabeth) and Harrison Hunt (Christine); his sister, Kalee Rae; and his nieces and nephews which were the light of his life: Jacob Riley, Jack Harrison, Boston Ray, Fisher Vaun, Annie Rebecca, Nora Rae, and Adalai Wild.
A visitation for Ira will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, both at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Arrowhead Ward, 801 Arrowhead Trail, Henderson, NV 89002. Ira will be laid to rest at Palm Henderson Cemetery, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015.
