Joan G. Gordon, age 74, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, after a strong fight against Covid-19. She was comforted with her son by her side as she passed. Joan was born September 19, 1946 in Massachusetts.
Joan was born and raised in Massachusetts. Following high school graduation she attended the University of Massachusetts until she left to join the United States Air Force. Soon after, she met Bob, the love of her life, and would spend the next 54 years as his loving wife. They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in November 2020. Their union was an exemplary model of devotion and an inspiration to those around them.
Besides being a dedicated wife; Joan was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Joan was raised as a Christian and converted to the faith of Jehovah’s Witnesses, later in life. Following a brief stint in the military (she left the military to have Roberta!), she was a stay-at-home mom until 1977 when she started her career as an administrative assistant and eventually worked in government contract management. A hard and dedicated worker, she had to eventually leave the workforce after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Joan fought a great deal of her adult life against medical issues, not letting anything stop her from enjoying life, so many commend her strength.
Joan is survived by her husband, Bob; children: Roberta and Robert (and spouse, Wendy); grandchildren: James (J.B.), Jordan, and Gabrielle; sister, Carole (and spouse, Beth); and sister-in-law, Jackie. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Joan (yes, she had to find a husband just like her dad!); sisters: Linda and Roberta; and in-laws, Murray and Frances.
Please join Joan’s family and friends in celebrating her life and cherishing the gratitude of her love.
A military funeral will be conducted on Friday, January 29, 2021, at 10:40 a.m., at the Southern Nevada Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veteran’s Memorial Drive, Boulder City, Nevada 89005. Family and friends are invited to join.
Due to COVID-19, all government restrictions will be in place and all guests in attendance must wear a mask.
