John D. Bustamante

John D. Bustamante, age 91, long-time resident of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024 in Henderson.

Born on March 8, 1933 in Sonora, Mexico, Bustamante worked as a laborer at the Nevada Test Site for more than 30 years. He was a custodian for several Henderson schools in the Clark County School District. John enjoyed gardening, baseball, cold beer, hot coffee, the company of friends and family, and giving to others.

John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Yolanda Esther Bustamante (nee Figueroa), of Henderson; daughter, Maria Szydelko (Paul), of Henderson; son, Edward Bustamante (Heidi) of Rancho Cucamonga, California; son, Gerald Bustamante (Kelley) of Henderson; seven grandchildren: Julia Szydelko and Erika Szydelko, Gabriel, Noah, Mia, Tyler and Alexis Bustamante; and other beloved nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass for John will be held Thursday, June 20, 2024 beginning at 1:00 PM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 204 S Boulder Highway, Henderson, Nevada 89015. Immediately following the mass, John will be laid to rest at Palm Henderson Cemetery, 800 S Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
