

Mary Jo Johnson, age 87, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 4, 1936 to Hugh Campbell and Kathleen Collins. Mary Jo worked for TWA as a ticket and gate agent for over 20 years, where she met her late husband, Bud Johnson. After TWA, she worked as a librarian for the City of Henderson, as well as donated her time to the Senior Center Library.
Mary Jo was an avid reader and always shared her love for literature with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family has fond memories of coming into her home and seeing stacks of library books on her counter with a list of new books she wanted to read. If she wasn't reading, Mary Jo enjoyed playing dominoes at home or going to the bingo halls with family.
Throughout her life, Mary Jo gave a home to many cats and dogs, and was lovingly known as the "cat lady" to her family. She cherished time spent with family and loved spoiling her great-grandchildren.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Bud Johnson; and her son, William Oakley. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Oakley; her two sons, Keith Oakley (w. Susan) and Nick Oakley (w. Lisa); 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
