Neil C Twitchell

Neil C Twitchell, age 88, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021. He was born June 8, 1932 in Springdale, Utah; the son of Clin Henry Twitchell and Elva Larene Crawford. Neil was sealed to Wanda V Avery in the Manti Temple for time and all eternity on May 26, 1954.

Neil graduated college with a degree in education; and after serving three years in the U.S. Army, he and Wanda moved to Henderson, Nevada where Neil became a teacher. He served most of his career as an elementary school principal and never wanted to do anything but be with the children.

Neil was also very active in his community, helping where he could and serving on many boards. But most important to Neil was his service to his Savior! Neil served many roles in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including: Sunday School teacher, Seminary teacher, Cub Scout Pack Leader/Chairman (among his favorite assignments), High Counselor, Stake President, Temple President, Area Representative, Missionary, Mission President (India) and many more.

Neil often said that he could have focused on becoming wealthy, but he and Wanda wanted to devote their lives to serving others and their Savior. They did become very wealthy in the things that really matter. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”

Wanda, his loving wife, passed away in March of 2020 and was sorely missed by Neil. When we told him on Sunday that he would be going to be with mom soon, his face lit up with a huge smile.

Neil was also preceded in death by his parents: Clin and Elva; and daughter, Laura. He is survived by his children: Lyn, Eileen, Ward, Andrew and Neca; 26 grandchildren; and 41 great grandchildren.

A visitation for Neil will be held Monday, May 31, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 AM. Both will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 303 S Cholla Street, Henderson, NV 89015. Neil will be laid to rest with honors on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 10:40 AM at the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veteran's Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
