Oscar Garcia Olmedo, age 95, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021. Oscar was born May 12, 1926 in Chile to his parents Oscar Olmedo and Amanda Garcia. With nothing in his pocket and only a handful of words, he came to the United States seeking a better life for himself and his wife.
Oscar was a man of few words; it was sometimes difficult to discern his thoughts. But you did not have to search into the depths of his mind to understand exactly where he stood. His dedication and unwavering loyalty for those he loved are the elements legends are written of. He is a testament to the axiom that anything can be accomplished with nothing but a dream and hard work. In life, he always managed to find beauty in everything; it is no wonder, he spent every moment he could with the flowers in his garden-- the flowers he carefully cultivated and joyously cared for with his own hands.
He was an inspiration to his son who would proudly walk with his father, Oscar G. Olmedo, until the end of time. He taught him what it means to be human: to try, to fail, to try again and never stop until happiness finds you. His tenacity, especially in moments of hardship, surpassed the perseverance of mere mortals.
