She was born August 31, 1934 to Dewey and Viola Boswell near Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where she was raised with her three brothers. The family relocated to Moline, Illinois when Pauline was a teenager and she graduated from Moline High School in 1953 on the honor roll.
Pauline was introduced to Vernon L. Garman, Jr. on a double date in September of 1956 and he proposed two months later, on Halloween night. They were married January 12, 1957.
Due to Vern’s job, they moved around a lot while starting a family, welcoming Michael in 1961 and James (Rick) in 1966. They settled in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1969 where Pauline raised her children, became active in her church, did volunteer work, was an avid bowler, played golf, and worked part time as a bookkeeper and later as a job clerk for Rockwell International.
When Vern retired in 1995, he and Pauline moved to Florida where they enjoyed line dancing, participated in bowling leagues, and spending time with friends and family.
In 2001, they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where Pauline became a member of the choir at Henderson Presbyterian Church and often sang solos at services. She also became very active in the local karaoke scene, performing almost every week at Gilley’s at Treasure Island on the Las Vegas Strip, where she developed a large group of friends and fans.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 62 years, Vernon L. Garman, Jr., her sons Michael and James (Rick), brothers Gary and Gene, and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends whom she adored.
