

Phil Beaton, age 74 of Henderson, Nevada went to his heavenly home on May 29, 2022. He was born March 14, 1948 in Quonset Point, Rhode Island and was preceded in death by his parents Frieda (Donovan) and Phillip J. Beaton; his son Ryan and brother Dennis.
He is survived by his wife Jan of 51 years; son Jason and daughter-in-law Danielle Buri-Beaton, grandson Zachary Buri, Rocklin, CA; sister Geri Beaton, Murfreesboro, TN; sisters-in-law Susan Beaton of Citrus Heights, CA, Annette Sedey, Reseda, CA and Gail Mason, Janesville, CA; mother-in-law Maxine Whaley, West Hills, CA as well as numerous family and friends from Sin City Church, Henderson, NV.
Phil served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1974 as a Nuclear Reactor Operator on the USS Caliente (a fleet auxiliary oil tanker than toured Southeast Asia off the coast of Vietnam; USS Truxtun (Long Beach, CA); was stationed in Schenectady, NY; and on the USS Nimitz (Newport News, VA). He received the National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation and First Good Conduct Medal.
He was employed by Xerox Corporation, Sacramento, CA from 1975-1995 as a Senior Customer Service Engineer; 1995-1997 Beaton’s Computers & Things under contract with Information Technology Services, Rocklin, CA; 1997-2003 Computer Network Specialist at Placer County Office of Education, Auburn, CA and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept. from 2003-2013 as a Network Systems Analyst II until he retired.
Phil and his wife traveled to the Bahamas, Virgin Islands, China and Europe; did volunteer work at church and served at Compassion International local events. One very special trip that he will always remember was the Donovan Cousins Reunion in 2017 where travels took them to Ireland, Scotland and London. Highlights were visiting Donovans Castle in Cork, Ireland and St. Andrews Links, Fife, Scotland. Golf was Phil’s passion and he didn’t care if the weather was 100 degrees he was always ready to play a round.
A memorial service with military honors for Phil will be held on Friday, October 7 at 11:20 am at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City, NV 89005. Interment will follow.
