Bob was born January 14, 1948, in San Gabriel, California, with his twin brother, William (Bill) to Martha and Lee Beck. They grew up with their sister, Peggy, moving across California before graduating from Upland High School in 1966.
Bob attended Chaffee College for one year before receiving his B.A. from San Jose State in 1970 studying Business Administration. He worked continuously as a skilled electrician throughout his studies and spent a summer in Hawaii where he met his first wife, Carol Becht, before starting law school at the University of San Diego. In 1974, Bob graduated second in his class with a Doctorate of Juris Prudence. Bob and Carol had divorced by then, so he moved to Malibu and started a law firm in Beverly Hills with partner David Karton that specialized in entertainment and corporate law.
In 1980, Bob met and married Nancy VanAcker. They moved to the Palos Verdes Peninsula while he launched a successful law practice in Torrance. Their daughter, Ashley Kate, was born in 1981 adding to their family of children from Nancy’s previous marriage, Amy and Scott. Bob was an active member of the Palos Verdes community volunteering as a Little League Coach, soccer coach, member of the Rolling Hills Estates Planning Commission and City Counsel for eight years with highlights as Mayor twice. He worked tirelessly.
In 1993, Bob and Nancy completed their family with the adoption of Natasha and (Alexander) Sergei, from St. Petersburg, Russia. Bob’s Law Offices continued to thrive and specialize representing Premier Financial, Porsche Financial Services, and other financial institutions. He became a Lemon Law expert and established Conferences across the Western United States while simultaneously offering his legal services to countless numbers of family and friends.
Bob and Nancy divorced in 2015 and suffered the loss of their son, Scott, in 2017. He moved to Henderson, Nevada, shortly after where he lived with his adoring dog, Jake. Bob enjoyed the heat of the desert, the company of close friends, and a quieter life. He played golf, loved Lake Havasu, the Dodgers, old Western movies, and law. He had perfected the art of BBQ and played "Puff the Magic Dragon" on guitar beautifully. Bob is survived by his twin brother Bill (Margie), sister Peggy (Dave), his nephews, niece, and families, lifelong best friend Ray (Sandy), three daughters, son, son-in-law, and three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Uncle Kory Foundation.
