Shawn Charles Tuenge

Shawn C. Tuenge, a lifelong resident of Henderson, Nevada, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the age of 43. Born on May 13, 1981, Shawn was full of charisma, a loving spirit, and a contagious laugh. He graduated from Basic High School in the Spring of 1999 and on September 25th of that same year, he married his childhood sweetheart, Christina Velasquez, in a ceremony at Faith Christian Fellowship.

Shawn was a Union Journeyman Carpenter for Local 1977, a professional tattoo artist, and a member of the Nellis Masonic Lodge #46. He had a passion for music, especially live concerts, and enjoyed playing the guitar. He loved being in the kitchen, whether it was cooking, salsa dancing with his wife and kids, or just standing around with friends while he sang an unmelodic version of any Alice in Chains or Johnny Cash song. He enjoyed traveling, working on his and his son’s trucks, playing cards with family, laughing at puns, and was an avid Oakland A’s and Tennessee Titans fan. Shawn was a very proud, loving, and involved husband and father, and his most recent joy was becoming a grandfather.

Shawn’s legacy is one of family and friendship. He would always go the extra mile to help those he cared about and the boundless love he had for his family will be deeply missed, but not forgotten. Shawn’s memory will be forever cherished and kept alive through the stories and laughter that he shared with so many people.

Shawn is survived by his devoted wife, Christina Tuenge; their three children: Erik (Courtney), Angelina, and Isaac; granddaughter, Olivia; step-father, Michael Keane; brother, David Tuenge; sisters: Kerri Tuenge and Lisa Tuenge; mother- in-law, Laura Castro; father-in-law, Archie Velasquez; sister-in-laws: Virginia Velasquez (Matt Vick), Teresa Stevens (Donald), and Cathelina Velasquez (Alex Gonzalez); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Keane (2014).

A visitation for Shawn will be held Friday, November 1, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM, both at Palm Mortuary Henderson, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Shawn will be laid to rest in Palm Henderson Cemetery, 800 S Boulder Hwy, Henderson, NV 89015.
