

Wayne C Amendola Wayne Carrol Amendola, 69, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014 in Henderson, Nevada while surrounded by his wife and sons. He was born July 6, 1945 in Duluth, Minn., to Frank and Lorraine Amendola. He graduated from Proctor High School as co-valedictorian in 1963, and was a graduate of the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Wayne married Betsy Meredith Bush June 24th, 1967, and they spent an amazing 47 years together. Wayne initially worked for IBM in Rochester, Minn. before moving into the family business with his father and his older brother Frank Jr., until retiring in 1996. He was active in the community in many ways, such as Rotary, the Builder’s Exchange, fire-arms instructor, little-league baseball coach, and as a volunteer firefighter. Wayne enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, shooting trap, snowmobiling, remote-control boats, wood carving, stained glass, playing poker, and various computer games. He spent a lot of time with his wife, young kids, and extended family camping on weekends in Baudette, Minn. before purchasing and remodeling a cabin on Lake Vermilion. They split time between Duluth and Lake Vermilion until 1997, when they started traveling across the southern U.S. in the winter months. They continued to enjoy the snow bird lifestyle until 2007, when they moved to Henderson, Nev., where he lived until his death. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Betsy of Henderson, Nev., sons Wayne Jr (Janelle) of Salinas, CA, Gregory of Minneapolis, Minn., and Gary (Sarah) of Savage, Minn.; 4 grandchildren (Cameron, 11; Isabella, 9; Danielle, 7; and Anthony, 6); brothers Frank (Marilyn) of Cape Coral, Florida and Joseph (Vikki) of Duluth, Minn,, and sister Lori of Duluth, Minn. A private remembrance and scattering of ashes will take place next summer (2015) at Lake Vermilion.
