Remembering the Life of Woodrow Willis Feeler, Jr.

Woodrow Willis Feeler Jr., age 84, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025. He was born on March 27, 1941, in Gary, Indiana. Raised in Indiana, Woodrow graduated from Calumet High School in 1959. After graduation, Woodrow enlisted in the US Marine Corps on May 28, 1959. He served honorably for the next four years in Bulk Fuel, obtaining the rank of Corporal, receiving a Good Conduct Medal and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge.

Following his service, Woodrow headed back to Indiana to continued his education. He graduated from both Purdue and Indiana Universities obtaining his Masters Degree. While going school, Woodrow, to support his growing family, served as a Law Enforcement Officer for the Gary Indiana Police Department.

On February 14, 1981, Woodrow would marry the love of his life, Donna Darlene Day, at a church wedding in Indiana. Together the couple would blend their lives and families and embark on a new adventure that would span over the next 44 years.

After 13 years in Law Enforcement, Woodrow would start a new career in education by becoming an teacher at the very school he graduated from, Calumet High School. As his career progressed, He also coached the football, basketball, and baseball teams, eventually working his way into becoming the Athletic Director for the school, a position he held until his retirement in 2009.

Woodrow was not only active in his career, he was also active within his community. Woodrow was a member and 32 degree Mason within the Griffith Masonic Lodge, a Life Member of the American Legion, a member of the Scottish Rite, and committed to the Shriners.

In 2015, Woodrow and Donna relocated to Southern Nevada to begin a new journey in their lives. They eventually settled in Henderson to enjoy the quiet life. Woodrow enjoyed watching old Black and White movies and westerns, his dog, Gizmo, and continued to support his Chicago Cubs; a team he has supported since 1951.

Woodrow was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter. He is survived by his wife of 44 years; four children, one sister, 16 grandchildren, multiple great grandchildren; and extended family.
