Brizeida was born in Havana, Cuba on August 10, 1941 to parents Rufina Hernandez and Raul Portero. In 1953, she and her mother moved to Miami, Florida. She met the love of her life, Eduardo Whitehouse in 1962 and was a dedicated and loving wife until his death in 1995.
Brizeida had a keen business sense. She helped to run her mother’s seamstress business from the age of 12 and enjoyed all aspects of the business. Brizeida had an amazing work ethic and was the ultimate business professional holding several executive jobs throughout her career. While Brizeida always enjoyed her professional work immensely, it was the role of devoted mother and grandmother that was the most fulfilling to her. She “retired” early to be a full-time grandmother!
Brizeida was a kind and generous soul, always putting others’ needs before her own. She was always “looking for purpose” and put her Catholic faith into practice on a regular basis. Brizeida lived a life of service, always looking to see how she could make others’ lives better. She provided comfort and care to many family members and friends throughout the years. Her legacy is one of selfless love, generosity and compassion, which was extended to all those who knew her.
Brizeida is proceeded in death by her husband (Eduardo Whitehouse); son (Rogelio Whitehouse); brother (Juan Inza); and sister (Luisa Portero).
Brizeida is survived by her daughter, Ann Whitehouse and her husband Eric Oakes and her son, Eduardo Whitehouse and his wife Susan Whitehouse. Her sister: Consuelo Portero Crolla. Grandchildren: Heather (Whitehouse) Eukitis, Roger Whitehouse, Edward Mulvaney, Amanda Mulvaney, Olivia Bergeron-Oakes, Oscar Bergeron-Oakes. Great-granddaughter: Emma Eukitis.
