Early this morning we lost, Dagoberto F. Garcia, an amazing man and the patriarch of our family. Today there is a huge celebration taking place in heaven for his arrival where he has been reunited with his wife, Olga, who he loved dearly. To say he was a role model of a husband would be an understatement. We are so proud of the man he was and is. Dagoberto came to the United States from Santa Clara, Cuba with Olga in the 1950s before things got out of hand on the island. He was a farmer who had a 3rd grade education and did not speak any English. As soon as he arrived in the US with only $5 to his name, he found a job washing dishes at a restaurant in New York City. Throughout the years, he and Olga worked hard to provide a comfortable life for their daughters, and they did. They did not want for anything growing up in West New York, New Jersey from the 1960s through the 1980s. They had everything they needed. Even at the end of his life, my Dagoberto did not want to leave his daughters. He fought to stay here until early this morning when his daughters, who sat bedside with him, told him it was ok to let go because they would be fine, even though they would miss him. While his body would no longer cooperate, he fought to hang on for his family. That was the kind of man he was. If we had to choose a few words to define my him, we would say he was dedicated, responsible, hardworking, hilarious, charming, and loving. But we know this isn't a goodbye. This is a see you later. We cant imagine what you're experiencing in the presence of Jesus and in the fullness of heavens eternal perfection. We miss you and we love you.
