Esperanza Lopez Castillo

Esperanza is survived by her children, Isabel Gotay, Sonia Gotay and Tony Castillo.

A visitation for Esperanza will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Caballero Rivero Hialeah, 373 W 9 Street, Hialeah, FL 33010.

Biography

Esperanza “Machita” Lopez-Castillo was born in Trujillo, Honduras on December 18th, 1940, to Ana Palacios and Antonio Lopez. She was an educator in her native county when she married Antonio Castillo in 1950. Esperanza then migrated to the United States in 1969 where she raised her family. While living in a foreign country, Esperanza embraced and instantaneously learned to assimilate and blend her Garifuna heritage with the American culture. Although faced with many challenges, she experienced and endured a life worth living. Esperanza was a wonderful mother, but more importantly, an amazing grandmother. “TITA”, we called her. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. Esperanza will be remembered by her family as a sparkling and burning light. She illuminated and inspired many. One of her proudest moments was when she became a U.S. Citizen in 2019. Her resilience will continue to flourish amongst us.

On the morning of Tuesday, June 7, 2022, God opened his arms and welcomed his daughter home.

TITA, not only will you remain our hearts. We love you dearly. Sleep in peace Beautiful. Until we meet again…

Esperanza is preceded in death by her son Eduardo Lopez and her late husband Antonio Castillo.

She is survived by her family.

Grandchildren:

Natalee Gelin, Carlos Jahmill Blanco, Jessica Horner (Alonzo), Jashua Blanco, Adan Severino (Ashley), Antonio Castillo, Alicia Castillo, Vanetta Castillo & Isaiah Badley.

Great Grandchildren:

Bryanna White, Malique Mars-Blanco, Ajenae Blanco, Jaden Blanco, Kenny Paris, Alyvia Severino, Zyhir Forbes, Alexander Severino, Arya Horner & Alayla Blanco. Also, many nieces, nephews & friends.
