Barbara Ann Benfield, aged 81 from Hickory, NC, passed away peacefully at Carolina Caring on Thursday, March 26th, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family. Barbara was cherished as a devoted wife, mother, and friend, and she will be missed deeply by all who knew her.
Born on March 3rd, 1945, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of Nell Robinson and George Robinson. Barbara lived her entire life in Hickory, where she grew up and remained throughout her years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James Dennis Robinson and Johnny Darel White. Remembering her with love are her husband of 62 years, Roy Benfield Sr.; her son, Roy Benfield Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Phuong Benfield; and her sister, Mary Ann Goins Setzer.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place Tuesday, March 31st, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Catawba Funeral Home. Pastors EJ Martin and Kenny Duke will officiate.
Interment will take place afterward at Catawba Memorial Park, where Barbara will be laid to rest.
The family will welcome friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service. Burial is at 3:00 pm, followed by a reception for family and friends at KOBE – Japanese House of Steak & Seafood, 1103 13th Ave Dr SE, Hickory, NC 28602.
