She was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee in 1932. Barbara was the daughter of the late Bonnie Estep Powell and Clayborne Forrest Powell.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Walter Jay Zimmerman, her parents and her brother, Clayborn Phillip Powell.
Barbara was an active member in her book club, investment club and the DAR as well as an avid duplicate bridge player.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons Scott Zimmerman and wife Pam, Jon Zimmerman and wife Carolyn and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends and family on Saturday November 9, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 pm at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory.
