HICKORY— Betty Chapman Orders, 83, of Hickory passed away at Frye Regional hospital on Thursday, January 24, 2019. Born in Burke County on September 28, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Fred Chapman Sr. and Ada Marie May Chapman. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters Mary Jane Chapman Malanick, Shirley Aldridge, Delana Norris, Caroline Icard, and Judy Stefanini, and her brothers Fred Chapman Jr. and Bill Chapman. Betty was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church Mo-Synod. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harold Orders of the home; her daughter Sandra Christenbury and husband Billy of Hickory; her son Harold R. Orders and wife Malena of Hildebran; grandchildren Miranda Christenbury of Hickory, Shane Orders and wife Dorinda of Hickory, Lorie Petriella of Statesville, Kayden Oxentine of Hickory and Kayson Salyards of Hickory, great granddaughters Chelsea Seaford and husband Jonathan of Troutman and Kaileigh Brewer and husband Phillip of Hickory; a great grandson Gabriel Thomas Christenbury and a great great grandson Reid Seaford of Troutman.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hickory Funeral Home. The funeral will be Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 3:00 pm at St. Stephens Lutheran Church Mo-Synod with Reverend Dave Guelzow and Reverend David Ziehr officiating.
