Betty Sue Pearce

Betty Sue Stafford Pearce, 86, of Hickory, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. She was born on September 26, 1930 to the late Dewey Elmer and Blanche Elizabeth Stafford in Alexander County. Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hickory. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son; Michael David Pearce, brother; Claude Stafford, and sister; Elizabeth Hansen.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 69 and a half years, Pastor Harvey Worth Pearce of the home, daughter; Carol Goins of Maiden, sons; Wayne Pearce and wife Patrice, Joel Pearce and wife Dawn, grandchildren; Erik Austin, Holt Pearce, Greg Pearce, Brad Pearce, Michael Gene Pearce, Kara Pearce, and Ian Pearce, great grandchildren; Piper Pearce, and Michael Devin Pearce, sister; Hilda Stafford Cook; and brothers Keith Stafford and Jimmy Stafford. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at First United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:45-1:45 p.m. Pastor J. Paul Christy will be officiating the services. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Online condolences may be left at www.hickoryfh.com.
