She was born on May 28, 1941, to the late Jeff Hughes and Nora Gardner Hughes in Yancey County, NC.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Perkins; and children, Danny Hughes, Dawn Perkins, and Lisa Shook.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Kathy Hughes of Newton and son, Casey Perkins of the home; and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Burial will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
