Carroll Dean Darnell, 65 of Newton went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 2, 2015 in Hickory. Carroll was born on July 3, 1950 in Tucker dale, North Carolina to J.C "Click" and Grace Sheets Darnell and lived in Catawba county since 1953. He was a graduate of Maiden High School, Class of 1969. He worked as a Corrections Officer for The Department of Corrections and retired in 1997 due to health issues. He was a Member of the Catawba County Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 26 and a former member of East First Street Baptist Church in Newton.
Carroll is survived by his wife of 45 years, Debra Darnell of Newton; children, Jessica Darnell of Newton and Roger Darnell of Newton; brothers, Dallas Darnell of Maiden and Ervin Darnell of Maiden; grandchildren, Gracie, Robert, Bentley and Rylan.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents Click and Grace Darnell and brothers, James Earl Darnell and Robert Darnell.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday November 14, 2015, at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. The Darnell family is under the care of Catawba Funeral Home.
