Lucille was born February 20, 1931 in Alexander County to the late Troy and Claudia Mae Coffey Bowman. She was a member of Hickory Seventh-day Adventist Church and retired from the local furniture and textile industries.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Matthew Barger.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Claude L. Barger; son, Michael Barger and wife Karen; daughter, Paulette Franklin; granddaughter, Cynthia Clark and husband Jamie; great-granddaughter, Abby Clark; and sister, Frances Russell.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the Hickory Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Art Randall officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. prior to the service.
