It is with deep sadness that the family of Charles Raymond Huttemann also known as Ray, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, entered into his heavenly home on May 1, 2025, at the age of 90.
He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones after a long illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Edna (Walker)Huttemann, his Stepmother Gladys Huttemann,his brother Robert D. Huttemann, his first wife Frances (Stys)Huttemann, mother of his children, his second wife Judy(Gilleland)Huttemann and his loving daughter Pamela Jean Huttemann.
He is survived by his son Charles ( Cheryle)Huttemann, his grandchildren Cassandra (James Bechtel)Hovan, Charles (Krystal Parks)Huttemann III and Candice (Andy Seuberth)Wilhelm, his great grandchildren Savanna, Tyler and Cheyenne Hovan, Charles IV and Ava Huttemann and Julia Wilhelm and his half brother William(Jeannie) Huttemann.
Ray Huttemann was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on March 22, 1935. He grew up in the Somerset and South Bound Brook area of New Jersey where he met and married his first wife Fran. He joined the Navy in 1953 at the young age of 17. He served during the Korean War from 1953 to 1956 receiving an Honorable discharge.
After leaving the Navy he and his wife Fran raised their family in Piscataway, New Jersey. Ray started working at Midland Ross, in Edison New Jersey. While starting out on the floor as a sheet metal worker, his expertise, knowledge and work ethic quickly moved him into management positions. Midland Ross changed its name to Somerset Technologies and moved to Somerset New Jersey. He made the move to Elizabethtown, North Carolina with the Company when it went through a restructuring process. He retired in 1997 after 41 years of working at the same company.
After the death of his first wife Fran in 2002, he met and married Judy Gilleland Reavis in 2003. They made their home together in Conover, North Carolina.
Ray had many artistic talents. He was an advid reader and loved to cross stitch in the evenings. He excelled in jewelry design and making as well as woodworking.
You would find him working in his garage on one of his many projects. From intricate scroll saw pieces to a large hand craved wooden Indian he could do it all. He would gift many of his items to friends and neighbors.
A kind and generous man, his friendly face will forever be remembered and missed by his neighbors and friends.
