David Burton Canipe Jr.

HICKORY – David Burton Canipe Jr. of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2025.

Born on August 20, 1943 in Lincoln County, to the late David Burton Canipe Sr. and Vangie Bivens Canipe. He retired from Hickory Springs Metal Plant after over 40 years of service. David was a member of Hickory Bethel Wesleyan Church. Some of David’s hobbies included golfing, bowling and working in his garden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Young Canipe; sisters, Mary Young, Flossie Greene, Evelyn Davis; brothers, Roy Canipe and JD Canipe.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Darrell Canipe and wife Shirley, Samantha Davis and husband Michael; grandchildren, Tiffanie Tillery, Joshua Canipe, Sherry Canipe, Ashley Davis, Justin Davis, Heaven Casper, Zachery Davis; great-grandcat, Biscuit; great-granddaughters, Samara Wilson, Oakley Casper; sister, Rlee Schronce; girlfriend, Ethel Willis and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 2 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Shrum officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 PM - 2 PM at the funeral home.
