David Lee McCrain

David Lee McCrain, 57, of Hickory, died peacefully, July 4, 2016 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born June 1, 1959 in Catawba County, NC, he was the son of the late Jack Arnold McCrain and Lura Maye Putnam McCrain. David adored his family, and loved going fishing with his son, Brian. He enjoyed watching the cooking channels and then trying out all of the recipes and was happiest with every minute he could spend on “island time”. David’s career was built over 35 years with Shurtape Technologies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Messer.

David is survived by his wife of 37 years, Teresa Coates McCrain; son, Brian David McCrain; daughter, Kristie Dawn McCrain; brothers, Harold Messer of Hickory, Lewis McCrain and wife Donna of Weaverville, and Kenneth McCrain of Hickory; and sister, Diane Fleming and husband Mark of Connelly Springs and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with Pastor Jeremy Moretz officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to your favorite charity in honor of David McCrain.
