David Roosevelt Mitchum Jr.

David Roosevelt Mitchum, Jr. 67, passed away April 4, 2026 at his residence. Born March 20, 1959 in Williamsburg, SC, he was the son of David R Mitchum, Sr and Betty Jean Scott Mitchum. A veteran of the US Army, he was employed as a finisher for the manufacturing of telephone booths.

David loved football and family time with his wife, children and grandson. They were the love of his life.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 28 years, Andrea Lynn Mitchum; sons, Chance Ray Mitchum and David Roosevelt Mitchum, III; daughter, Vanessa Lorynn Wilson; grandson, Lathan Wraith Payne; brother, Alphonso Mitchum; sisters, Valerie Mitchum and Gloria Mitchum; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kathleen and David Fenner; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A gathering of friends will be held in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 from 10:00 am until noon. Pastor Ric Smith will officiate.

A Committal Service will be held at the Salisbury National Cemetery Annex, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144, US, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 10:00am.
