

Donald Hugh Sigmon, 86, of Conover, died November 1, 2012 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born June 29, 1926 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Hugh Edward and Gladys Bumgarner Sigmon. He previously served in the US Army during WWII and was employed as a brickmason in the construction industry. Donald enjoyed hunting and gardening; sitting under a shade tree listening to his radio and socializing with the neighbors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Travis.
Donald is survived by son, Donald Hugh Sigmon, Jr. and wife, Wanda of Conover; daughters, Sharon Hefner and husband, Donald of Taylorsville and Beverly Morrow and husband, Leslie of Claremont; sister, Edna Brown of Claremont; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with Rev. Matthew Schilling officiating. Burial, with military rites, will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
