

Dwight was born August 19, 1944 in Catawba Co. to the late Herbert “Hub” and Maude Bowman Lafone.
He was a lifelong member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, a VietNam veteran of the U.S. Army, retired from Hickory House Furniture and was a member of the American Legion Post #48 Surviving are his wife, Collene Hefner Lafone of the home; daughter, Amy Lafone Rucker and husband, Rob, of Hickory; son, Jason Lafone of the home; granddaughter, Kirby Rucker of Hickory; sisters, Patricia Sigmon of Hickory and Marla Early and husband, Mikeal, of Hickory; brothers, Melvin Lafone and wife, Mabel, of Hickory and Gary Lafone and wife, Janice, of Hickory; a number of nieces, nephews, in-laws and a special fishing buddy, George Hilton and wife, Mary Ann. Services will be Saturday, September 7, at 11:00 A. M. at St. Peters Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul D. Birner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #48. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 – 8:30 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home.
