Conover – Freddie Thomas Graves, 76 of Conover went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Catawba Valley Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Born on August 7, 1946 in Gaston County, NC, Freddie was the son of the late Alonzo and Virginia Skidmore Graves. He was an avid golfer and loved to travel, as well as attending auctions. He was a very loving and caring person and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Brenda Crouse Graves and a brother, Bruce Graves.
Those left to cherish his memory include, a brother, Danny Graves and wife, Sherry; a son, Joseph Hatley; a daughter, Laranda Sigmon and husband, Donnie; 2 granddaughters, Brandi Sayles and Nikki Lytton; a great-granddaughter, Kerrigan Sayles; Freddie’s significant other, Denise Abernethy and her son’s, Rob and Derek and her granddaughter, Sydnie Abernethy, as well as numerous other friends and family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Eddie McGinnis officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Veteran’s Administration in Freddie’s name.
