Gun Ja was the heart of our family — a steady light whose warmth, wisdom, and unwavering kindness shaped generations. She was a woman of quiet strength, known for her gentle hands, her warm hugs, and the way her eyes lit up when she spoke of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Her kitchen was a sanctuary where love was created into naengmyeon and other Korean dishes. She taught us that meals are meant to be shared, that listening is one of the purest forms of love, and that forgiveness is a gift we give ourselves as much as others.
She had a laugh that made you feel at home, a faith that never wavered, and a garden that bloomed under her tender care — much like the family she nurtured with grace and patience. She remembered every birthday, comforted every tear, and celebrated every success, no matter how small.
Gun Ja Pak is survived by her daughter Mi Yong Hankim; her granddaughter Heather Kun; her sons Chang Han, Bong Han, and Seong Han; and her daughter Sooyoung.
While we mourn the loss of her physical presence, we take solace in knowing that her spirit lives on in each of us —the traditions we carry forward, and the love we share.
