Gwyn Wade Kahill

NEWTON – Gwyn “Wade” Kahill, 77, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015 at Catawba Memorial Hospital. Wade was born July 23, 1938 in Catawba County to the late K.C. and Mildred Settlemyre Kahill.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Houston Kahill; two brothers Gene Kahill and Max Kahill. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in Berlin, Germany from 1959-1962. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. He was a Charter Member for 50 years of the Fairbrook Fire Department where he also served as fire chief. He is survived by his son Todd Eugene Kahill and wife Lisa of Newton; a grandson Brandon Kahill of Newton; a brother Jerry Kahill and wife Sandra of Lenoir and Billy Kahill of Gastonia. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Emmanuel Baptist Church from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.The funeral service will be held Friday, August 21, 2015 at 11:00am at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Correll officiating. Pallbearers will be members of the Hickory Fire Department. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 48.
