Rev. Harvey Worth Pearce

Born in Durham County on April 10, 1929, he was the son of the late George and Sadie Whitener Pearce.

In addition to his parents, his wife Betty Stafford Pearce, son Michael Pearce, and a brother Marion Pearce, preceded him in death.

Rev. Pearce was a United Methodist minister for 42 years in the Eastern North Carolina Conference. He was a member of Catawba Valley Astronomy Club over 20 years, and an avid beekeeper for over 40 years.

His daughter Carol Goins of Maiden; sons Wayne Pearce and wife Patrice and Joel Pearce and wife Dawn; brother Ira W. Pearce and wife Mary; grandchildren, Erik Austin, Michael Pearce (Melissa), Kara Pearce (Mike Miller), Ian Pearce (Katie), Holt Pearce, Greg Pearce, Brad Pearce (Sarah); great grandchildren Piper Pearce, Michael Devon Pearce, Eli Miller, Isaac Miller, Lily Pearce, and Memphis Pearce survive him.

Funeral service will be held Monday, January 8, 2024 at 1:00 pm at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Christy Lohr Sapp officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery. A reception for family and friends will follow the burial at St. Andrew’s Lutheran church fellowship hall.
