

Born in Mitchell County on June 20, 1930, she grew up in Mitchell and Yancey counties. After living in California for several years she later moved back to North Carolina and settled in Catawba County.
Hazel worked for Siecor and Corning Corp over 25 years, making many friends along the way. After retiring she joined the Joymakers at Highland Baptist Church where she became a member. Hazel made many friends wherever she went and everyone loved her. Mostly she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents Burgess Avery and Lockie Smith Bartlett; her first husband John William Greene, her second husband Edgar Stanley Bishop; sons Robert Bishop, Kenneth Greene, and Danny Greene and grandchild Matthew Greene.
She is survived by her daughters Nita Greene of Hickory, and Dinah Herman and husband Harold of Newton; a son Mark Bishop and wife Kim of Taylorsville; 8 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Jacqueline Greene, and son-in-law Scott Frye.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 1:45 pm to 2:45 pm at Highland Baptist Church.
Memorial service will be held, Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Highland Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Myers and Reverend Kenny Robison officiating
