Jackson (June) was born, January 8, 1947 to the late Jackson S. Carey, Sr. and Sally Gilmore Carey in Bedford, VA.
On Wednesday, November 26, 2025 while surrounded by loved ones June transitioned from labor to reward.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Steven (infant) Carey, Oswell Lee Carey, Robert “Bob” Flood, Walter Carey, three sons, Dante Carey, Jerry Kenneth Martin, and Jackson Martin.
Jackson (June) was educated in Mercer County Schools. He lived and worked in Bluefield, WV and Detroit, MI. While living in Hickory, NC June was well known for his God-given knowledge of working on automobiles. He was known as the “McGuyver” of repairs. He could work wonders with plastic and a safety pin. He enjoyed his craft and often donated his services to help others.
During prayer and Bible Study with his siblings, June 7,2024 June accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. We are all eternally grateful for his confession of faith and know where his soul will spend eternity.
June has a long lineage of family and friends left to remember and cherish his memory;
His wife of 41 years, Gloria Saleria Carey, sons, Marlin, Deitruss, Alphonso, Robert D, Rodney, Donelle, Michael (Regina), Jonathan (Sonya), Ellis, daughters, Kim, Monda, Stacey, Tracey, Jacqueline, Tenisha, and Shontae, a brother, Shelby Carey of Dearborn, MI, two sisters, Patricia Carey, VanBuren, MI and Janice Spellman, Palmyra, VA, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews and friends.
Close friends, Lillie Mae Bryant, Cherito Spears, and Minnie James.
