Born in Catawba County on February 3, 1945, he was the son of the late George Richard Burns and Minnie Buff Burns.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his daughter Jennifer Burns; his brothers Max Burns and Richard Dickie Burns
Jim is survived by his wife Pamela Burns of the home; sons James Allen Burns Jr. “Jamie” of Gastonia, Scott Burns and wife Leslie of Granite Falls, and Jeremy Burns and wife Katie of Gastonia; his daughter Ashtan Burns of Hickory; grandchildren Andrew, Elizabeth, Brianna, Abbey, Kaitlyn, Paisley, Eden, Jaxon, Gage, Kelton, Attikus and Slade; great grandchildren Ollie, Aubrey, and Colt.
